Unity

Well, I’ve tried to believe in “Unity.” I really did if even for a moment. Unfortunately, my science/fact based, history loving mind took over. To be totally honest, I only lasted to the evening of Joe Biden’s Inauguration, but I really tried to believe. I guess I just don't have enough faith.

Over the past decade, I’ve often told people that I feel like I’m living in some version of the Emperor has No Clothes. Many leaders in our community, at our universities, and in the media, have been talking about this great system of socialism. Yet I know where it leads as I was there when it feel apart in Eastern Europe. I saw personally that the philosophy is not only empty morally but leads to misery and is dangerous. But when I stated the obvious, I was shouted down as being mean, unsensitive, unchristian, or even racist. Regardless, of how much reinforcement I received from my friends from other parts of the world, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, or South East Asia, I was the one who was out of touch and was just the alarmist.

As I watched TV the night of the Biden/Harris Inauguration (for the few minutes I could watch the inauguration celebration before I physically had to change the station) I realized that I was no longer in the The Emperor has No Clothes . . . I was now living in the Truman Show where I was being directed what to watch . . . I was no longer in control. It was a soft form of a re-education camp. Yes, I was free to change the station and watch reruns, but if I wanted to watch live TV then I had to watch the indoctrination of a new order in America. The directed script pushed for unity as the only "kind" option. The events of the past year seemed eerily scripted in a way no conspiracy theorist could have ever done. Some subliminal message must have been imbedded because in my mind, I kept hearing . .. . unity is good . . . unity will save us . . . believe in unity and all our problems will go away.

I was snapped back to reality as my 17 year old son came home and said with a smile, “What do you think of Biden getting us back in the Paris Climate deal?” My son knew that something sarcastic was coming as I said, “The planet is now saved with the stroke of a pen.”

I’m grateful, however, because a teaching moment was given. I explained to him that the Paris Deal must be viewed in accordance with the executive order pulling the permits for the Keystone Pipeline. Despite the billions already spent, President Biden like many liberals truly believed that by wasting billions in investments and with a government edict, the market will stop working.

I explained that over a decade ago, I happened to sit next to a Keystone Executive at a national conference. I asked him how long until they moved their pipeline because of an unreliable American partner and kept it all in Canada so they could ship it China by way of their west coast.

“That’s already being done” he said, ”It’s just a matter if we build one pipeline or three.”

Despite the Biden/Harris belief, the oil will eventually flow anyway. Instead of providing upper middle class jobs to Americans, the pipeline jobs will simply stay in Canada. The great paying refinery jobs in Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama, will now be shifted as well - most likely to China . . . but I told my son to remember all is well with unity . . . don’t worry . . . despite the environment actually becoming more polluted from 3rd World refining . . . all will be well with unity.

I returned to watching TV for a few minutes before going to bed. I watched the tail end of an episode of “The Twilight Zone” - which was fitting since my whole day I seemed to be living. The episode was about a movie star who couldn’t adjust to the reality of no longer being a star. She spent her life watching her movies over and over again. Eventually she got her wish as to the horror of her family she was transferred to the screen on the wall - permanently separated from reality.

I made the mistake of getting one last glimpse of News. The Biden lovefest continued as I learned that the heavens and the clouds had parted and the sun warmed the earth as Biden took the oath of office. The news host asked an ecstatic Biden adviser about Biden’s economic priorities. She said first was getting Covid 19 under control with his national mask mandate . . . despite scientific data saying mask mandates don’t work . . . Red states are actually doing better . . . but remember the power of unity . . . unity will solve all our problems.

I learned Biden’s second economic priority would be income inequality. Despite cancelling 100,000s of jobs that benefit minorities at a higher percentage than other sector jobs, racial income inequality will magically be resolved if we just believe in unity. . . . unity . . .

Despite the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights saying,

In this post-1965 era of mass immigration, no racial or ethnic group has benefited less or been harmed more than the nation’s African American community.”

. . . by granting amnesty to 11 million undocumented immigrants and millions more that amnesty will encourage, the economic laws of supply/demand/cost will magically disappear . . . the Christian principle of the Law of the Harvest will be disbanded (what you sow so shall reap . . . reward behavior and you get more of it) . . . just remember that no matter how illogical or how unscientific . . . no matter how much mandates go against known human behavior and the Law of Nature . . . if one just thinks unity . . . ignores reality . . . just believe in unity . . hold one's tongue . . . and a utopian society will fall into place. Put aside those negative thoughts and cast out doubt . . . unity . . . unity . . . unity . . . and all will be well.

And they say we don’t believe in science.
